Risk Register Powers an Action-Oriented, Scientific Approach to Risk Management
A large global company saw a need to examine its own risk exposures in
a structured and more easily accessible way. The risk management team,
as one of the first users of the Risk Register module in RiskConsole, is
now more effectively identifying and managing its register of risks. Just as
astronomers tell us that our universe is expanding, the same can be said of
risk profiles for companies in all industries. According to Marion Houghton,
risk manager at Reed Elsevier, "Our risk profile is wide and varied, but it's
also quite intangible. We don't have much exposure to 'traditional' risks
like fire and theft and auto, but we do have exposures to risks around
intellectual property, for example, or even risks to our business model for
paid subscriptions to our scientific and technical publications."
