We have a workforce that exceeds 60,000 employees and a significant portion of our costs result from workers' compensation claims. Four years ago there were very few reports available that could identify the driving claims costs, which were getting out of control. We were meeting OSHA requirements but had no formal safety plan. Our operations group wanted information and it would take us a significant amount of time to put together meaningful reports because data was located everywhere. We knew we needed a system to consolidate all of the data points to provide consistent, reliable reports to our management teams. We have fairly complicated internal systems that our IT department supports. We didn't want to add more to their plate so we made a decision to find a web-based system that could meet our timeframes and what we wanted to accomplish. We also required a system that would enable our department to quickly produce a report within a day of the request. Another unique challenge in that our hierarchy is people-based, not geography-based, and it can change every day. Bringing claims data in from several different sources with the relative historical data attached is therefore complex. regis corporation case study regis risk challenges: • rapid growth in last five years • over 60,000 employees; significant claims costs • no formal safety policy • disconnected data warehousing • complex reporting structure "While Regis has doubled in size over the past five years, we have been able to lower our total loss cost by 40%." With the acquisition of Sassoon, Jean Louis David and Saínt Algue, Regis owns the premier salon concepts in Europe, as well as the most well-known salon concepts in North America – Regis, Supercuts, Cost Cutters, Trade Secret/Beauty Express and MasterCuts in the United States and First Choice Haircutters and Magicuts in Canada. Adding an average of 1,000 salons a year, Regis currently owns or franchises over 11,700 locations, 8,000-plus locations more than their nearest competitor. Nancy Devine, director of safety and workers' compensation at Regis, talks about how Aon RiskConsole has become embedded within their risk management and safety initiatives. 24 | 360º Aon eSolutions
