In Shakespeare's famous words, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." With apologies to
the Bard, the same might be said of Learning Care Group's internal rebranding of RiskConsole as the
"DataStar" system. When Jeff Gehrke became risk manager at the company in early 2009, he proposed
adoption of a RMIS. Two years into deployment of RiskConsole, Gehrke and his team have exceeded
ROI expectations by cutting costs; promoted the safety culture; and expanded the system to be used
in other departments, including motor vehicle fleet operations. Yet, Gehrke might be proudest of having
established "one version of the truth" when it comes to risk management at Learning Care Group, and the
role of DataStar has been instrumental in that achievement.
