Aon's Crisis Management practice had been supporting a number of clients with their travel risk needs using the WorldAware country risk information website and email and telephone calls via their Operations Centre in Johannesburg. The team wanted to take advantage of Aon's leading technology in order to make the program scalable and allow clients to have greater control over their own risk data. Education, training and awareness arm personnel with the right skills to reduce their vulnerability when travelling. Building on the existing WorldAware country risk information website, Aon developed a suite of mobile apps (iPhone, iPad and Android) to provide business travelers with essential country information whilst on the move. The apps not only provide country risk overviews, cultural awareness and useful information such as currency and weather, but also utilize GPS technology to determine a traveler's specific location and give directions to their nearest embassy. Useful personal information such as passport number and frequent flyer membership details can be stored in the application, and the user can select specific countries of interest to 'watch'—tailoring the news feed and notifying the user when a country risk rating has increased. eSolutions is working with Crisis Management to develop a Blackberry enabled version.
